Pain and Perception

Tue Sep 18, 2007, 8:24 AM
Have lower back aches and stiff neck. oooww...

Been busy for a while, which is good (not the pain), and I do hope it continues to grow and lead me eventually to greener pastures.

Is it realistic? Do people really make a living solely on illustration services? Does this occupation enables security in retirement? Anybody, please clarify. I would like to hear your point of view. 90 year olds with experience are surely welcome to give insights.

I've been trying to get back to my old sketchy technique but alas.... its hard!

To all the people who visited my page. Thanks again for everything. Please do keep in touch and don't be discourage if I didn't send a reply sooner, most of the time I'm busy with priorities, in fact its been months since I've had a chance to log on to Deviant. You guys keep me going when I'm depressed.

Hullo, long time no hear. I think it's realistic it but it's nice to have some passive income that will still generate cash. Open up a business so you are free to pursue your passion.
Thanks for the comment.... yeah, long time no hear, hope to see you again on the Seminar. .....passive income.....like.......uhm.... this is going to be hard. I've been using up my savings this whole year. I wish I know what to do......

I don't think I'll be coming to the seminar though. I'm busy saving up money :), I'll go back to the comic scene when I have enough money to get by. Projects are nil or almost none for artist like me. Have to look for greener pastures. It feels liberating for me not having to worry about deadlines and all.
I'd love to give you an answer, but I guess I couldn't honestly say. You know? I have yet to find a lot of things out, but personaly, it's a real dream to get into illustrations. I want to become a better artist and make a living off what I enjoy.

That's just me of course. In my mind, it seems realistic because I think if you ever though about retirement in the future over getting such a career, let's say you did go into retirement... if you ever wanted to start that career back up, it's easy to pull out of it and do so, then retire again later.

But it all boils down to how far you made it in the first place.

It's a good deal if you make it a good deal, but it's only a wrong choice if you make it wrong.

And... I really do think that if you can commit to everything as tight as a deadline, then you should be self-motivated.

I think it's perfectly realistic, it just depends on who you, and what frame of mind you have.

But again, I'm just a kid. So... you don't really have to think too hard on anything that I say. =) I don't have much life experience anyway hehe, just wanted to get a word out.

I appreciate your comment, Dr. Phil. I mean, Kitty.

But its nice to hear a perspective from your age, when teen angst and raging hormones rule every aspiration. This is the stage where everyone thinks they're invulnerable and can accomplish anything before social reality sets in when they pass that age..... yeah, I need a boot like that once in a while.

Make it a good deal?.... sometimes the 'deal' is out of one's control... but you're right.. make the most of it otherwise it's like someone just shot the dog :)

hey! try digitalwebbing. I'm currently doing an issue on the side... you can try and look for those that pays. Its not as big as GHG's commission but at least its something.

Exactly! And no one feels like doing anything after someone shoots the dog. =)

Yeah, I understand the deal part. I guess that's where things get more hectic, pending on how things go. But in any event, heck I say if you get paid well it's completely worth it. Things could always be worse some way or another.

Really? Puede mag sideline sa iba. Kala ko kasi bawal if you don't refer the agent to the client. The last time I asked permission. I have to refer the client to the agent for the negotiation.
I did told Dave beforehand what I was gonna do... He understood naman, and said that 'we have to do whatever it takes to make a living'. I even point out to him the Digitalwebbing website. Afterwards, I no longer informed him of my extra curricular work. We can always say to Dave that we searched out the project ourselves because we're desperate from waiting too long for a project from him, so he needn't have any commission base on this. We can openly tell him if this ever get publish. No problem. Go ahead.
